As part of the Severn Valley Water Management Scheme consultation, a series of public events will be taking place in January and February 2026.

Flooding affects many communities across the Upper Severn catchment, including homes, farmland and businesses. The Severn Valley Water Management Scheme (SVWMS) is a cross-border partnership made up of Powys County Council, Shropshire Council, Natural Resources Wales and Environment Agency. The SVWMS partnership is developing a strategy for how water is managed within the catchment, using a balance of nature-based solutions and formal engineering, to reduce flood risk and support local communities and businesses. The SVWMS Team are inviting communities to take part in their consultation of their emerging plan to ensure local communities shape what this long-term strategy could look like. At each event you’ll have the opportunity to find out more about the plan, meet the people involved, and ask questions. You don’t need to book to attend – you can simply drop-in at a time that suits you at any of the events listed below.

The National Flood Forum team will be at each of the public events taking place over the next few weeks. A range of other organisations will be at each event. We hope to see you there.
