Floodline
By signing up to river and coastal flood warnings you are giving yourself a degree of time to prepare, instigate your flood plan if you have one, and be as ready as you can be for a flood. The service is free and sends a direct message to your phone, mobile, email, SMS text or fax.
The Floodline service includes three types of warning – Flood Alert, Flood Warning and Severe Flood Warning. Each warning type is triggered by particular weather, river or sea conditions which cause flooding.
Flood Alert Warning Sign
There is a danger of flooding within the next 24 – 48 hours (12 hours in coastal areas). Monitor weather reports and check with Floodline for updates.
Flood Warning Sign
Immediate action is required, take measures to protect yourself and your property. Monitor weather updates and check Floodline regularly. The Environment Agency endeavours to send this warning at least three hours before predicted flooding.
Severe Flood Warning
Flooding is imminent and could pose a risk to life and cause significant disruption to essential services, such as water and electricity supplies. Co-operate with the emergency services in the event of evacuation.
